Toycarz goes to Penang!
Updated: Apr 6, 2018
This is somewhat old news, but something we thought worth reporting and sharing with all you lovely readers.
We figured since there are a bunch of Lotus owners up in the Northern region requiring their cars to be worked on, why not we bring the workshop to them instead of them having to bring their cars to us in KL? Great opportunity to catch up with old friends, make new friends, have some fun, get work done and more importantly, have a great drive up to Penang Island!

The lot of us got ready by this hour, stocking up our trusty support van with engine oils, brake fluids, tires, jacks, tools, oil pumps and spare parts. The shy, yellow Lotus Elise S1 which we have been working on the past year, building it up from scratch carefully reversed out, all shiny and ready to be delivered to her new owner, Dave. Clock struck 6am and all 3 vehicles, the Toycarz Support Vehicle, the Lotus Elise S1 to be delivered, and Chris's Subaru left the garage and began the 350km journey up to Penang Island.
It was a smooth drive, plenty of scenic routes, corners and long stretches. Of course, coffee was a compulsory requirement to begin any drive.

We reached Penang Island at 10am, and headed straight to Malcolm's. Malcolm generously opened his home for us to use to carry out our work and to refresh ourselves. We had the main work to be done- some suspension repairs, a carbon-fiber body kit installation, brake fluid bleeding, general servicing for a couple of cars, and a throttle body replacement.
We experienced some unforeseen minor hiccups, which were well managed and solved by the team.

Straits Quay, Penang.
Work for the day was done by this time, and it was time for a good meal after all that hard work. We had gotten Julian's help to arrange to meet the Lotus owners from the North for a nice dinner at Healy Mac's, Straits Quay, Penang Island. We gathered there and were given special parking, right in front of the Yachts.
Without any doubt, the cars got the attention of passers by who never failed to strike a conversation with the owners, and even took the opportunity to take some nice photos with the cars.
We had a great time catching up with old friends and meeting new owners. Owners also got to know one another better, share their experiences and findings with their respective Lotuses.
We hope to be able to organize more trips like this in future! In the meantime, do drop by Toycarz Private Garage to have your Lotus car needs met.
